Strive Physio were pleased to support the Gladstone Ecofest at the Botanical Gardens on the weekend. It was a jammed packed day full of activities such as trail running, climbing wall, bouncy castle and some talks by some amazing guest speakers. Ecofest physio – smart ideas with Strive Physio.


We at Strive Physio love the message the Ecofest brings to our community. We believe there are so many little things we can do, that all add up to create real changes, not only for the environment but for our bodies too.


Our TOP 5 tips to support both a healthy environment and a healthy body:


1. Walk or cycle to work

Why not even register for the Diabetes Australia Walk to Work Day – Friday 7 October 2016

2. Aim to create more home cooked meals (don’t forget to take your re­usable shopping bag to the supermarket)

This article is enough to make you think twice before using plastic bags!

3. Have fun out doors (less time indoors means less electricity) – use the fitness trails, cycle paths and try out parkrun

4. Switch off all devices an hour before bedtime to ensure a better night’s sleep

We all know that a good night’s sleep makes us feel great. Preparing the mind for sleep by following good sleep hygiene is vital to achieve this. If you are having trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep due to an overactive mind, maybe you need to prepare the mind better for sleep. Darken the room and wind down mentally.

5. Learn how to make your own sauces and dips (less packaging)

Have fun experimenting with different flavours! This was the dip we made for the Ecofest goers – here’s the recipe:

Asparagus Dip


Cook 1 bunch of fresh asparagus (steam lightly) and blend in a food processor with 1 cup of green leaves (e.g. spinach), 1 garlic clove, 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp cashews & pinch of salt.
